Unemployed Physicians in Canada: Who are they and why is this happening?
Date: February 11th 2015
Time: 1:00pm-2:00pm (EST)
Brief Description:
Despite interminable patient wait lists, there have been growing signs that some newly minted physicians and surgeons in Canada can’t find work. To go beyond anecdotes and periodic articles in the lay press and academic journals, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada mounted a longitudinal study in 2011 examining the breadth of this new phenomenon and underlying causes. As the national certifying body for medical and surgical specialists in Canada, the Royal College is uniquely positioned to follow the employment status of new specialists. The report issued in October 2013 provided the first comprehensive picture and generated much media attention. This CHHRN Webinar and Fireside Chat will give participants the opportunity to gain additional insights about the 2013 findings and ongoing research results.
