Webinar # 3
TITLE: Moving from Barriers to Facilitators: Funding and remuneration models that better optimize health professional scopes of practice
DATE: June 19 2014
TIME: 1:00pm-2:00pm (EDT)
DESCRIPTION: What is it about the way health professionals are paid and how their different models of care are funded that either enables or limits their practicing their full skill set?
Dr. Gillian Mulvale will provide an overview of what an interdisciplinary team commissioned by the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and who worked in partnership with the Canadian Health Human Resources Network found on this issue. Their findings were derived from a scoping review of the Canadian and international review literature, from a number of experts in the area of health professional scopes of practice, and also from some of the most innovative practices from around the country and internationally.
Gillian will stress how it was found that innovative health care organizations and personnel often worked around economic barriers in order to optimize their health human resources and improve quality of care. She will highlight the key recommendations to help us move economic barriers to enablers for more optimal utilization of health professional scopes of practice.
