Caregiving Communities
Many healthcare workers and organizations require support during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is particularly prevalent when socially distancing or isolating.
The OCO developed a platform to help individuals and organizations find and give support during the pandemic. The platform allows you to search for a type of support and gives contact information to organizations who are offering that service. Caregiving Community Organizations are organizations including non-profits, service clubs, and faith-based groups that are finding effective ways to help people in their community.

Supports for individuals includes:
- grocery shopping and delivery
- prescription and medication delivery
- personal care items
- social support; friendly phone and video calls
- communication device such as tablet
- games, books, crosswords, puzzles, etc..
- mental health support
- prepared meals or foodbanks
- spiritual support

Supports for long-term care homes, retirement homes, and assisted living residences includes:
- PPE
- hand sanitizers, soap, and wipes
- communication device such as tablet
- games, books, crosswords, puzzles, etc..
- mental health support
- social support; friendly phone and video calls

The Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) exists to support Ontario’s 3.3 million caregivers; ordinary people who provide physical and emotional support to a family member, partner, friend or neighbour. We support caregivers by being their one point of access to information, so they have what they need to be successful in their role.

Established in the Spring of 2018, the OCO is an independent non-profit that is funded by the Ministry of Health.
