Extra training essential for staff redeployed
Some nurses might not be properly trained to work in intensive care units if the swine flu pandemic escalates.
The group stipulates that nurses redeployed to work in intensive care units should first receive critical care training. To add, ICU staff trained to care for adults, but redeployed to work with children, must first receive training in paediatric critical care, such as airway management, ventilation strategies and medicine administration for children.
