College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta
Pandemic response: As reported by the Government of Alberta, seniors are the most vulnerable to COVID-19 as 503 cases of the virus have been discovered in continuing-care facilities, including 59 deaths.
The Nurse Practitioners Association of Alberta (NPAA) are pleased with the provincial government’s recent amendments to the Operations and General Regulations of the Nursing Homecare Act (NHA). Nurse practitioners (NPs) have been given the ability work as the primary care providers in nursing homes, assessing residents, prescribing medication as well as offering follow-up care and are working to ensure the changes remain permanent.
